That’s why Shifting Sands offers flexible options to suit you including both in-person and online sessions, after hours and weekend availability, and minimal wait times. OUR PHILOSOPHY

The term Shifting Sands encapsulates the ongoing cycle of change and unpredictability we are exposed to throughout our lives. When we resist change, we find ourselves exhausted, with little to show for our efforts. With each footprint in the sand, we make an impression. As our progress forward becomes conscious and deliberate, we gain a greater capacity to shape each footprint and determine whether its image stays visible or disappears with the changing tide. The more we progress, the greater our individual happiness. We can learn new ways of being in order to live with conscious and decisive thoughts and actions. WHAT TO EXPECT

STEP 1. SUBMIT AN ENQUIRY

  • If you are interested in our services, you can easily get in touch with us by calling us on 07 3543 0176, sending an email or using the contact form on our website. This is your first step to initiate the process of booking an appointment with our clinic. You do not need a referral from your doctor to contact us, however this may be advised later on depending on your circumstances and needs.

STEP 2. PRE-ASSESSMENT CALL

  • After we receive your enquiry, we will reach out to you for a brief pre-assessment intake call. This call is designed to gather more information about your concerns, background, and specific needs. It's an opportunity for us to answer any questions you may have and determine if our services align with what you are looking for. If your initial enquiry is via phone, this will be done with our friendly admin team.

    During the pre-assessment intake call, we will ask you about:

    • The nature of your concerns or issues you are seeking help for

    • Relevant personal history

    • Your preferred availability for appointments

    • Insurance coverage or payment options you may have

    • Any specific requests or preferences you may have for a clinician (if applicable)

STEP 3. BOOK A SESSION

  • Based on the information gathered during the pre-assessment intake call, we will identify the most suitable clinician to address your needs. Factors such as specialization, availability, and expertise will be considered to ensure a good match.

    Once we have identified the appropriate clinician, we will schedule your initial appointment. You will receive a welcome email confirming the date, time, and location of the appointment, along with any necessary instructions or paperwork to complete before the session.

Throughout the intake process, we aim to provide clear and timely communication, ensuring that you feel supported and well-informed every step of the way. We prioritise establishing a positive client-clinician relationship from the beginning to ensure a smooth transition into therapy or counselling services. individual psychology

Offering evidence-based psychological treatment and support for various mental health needs and clinical presentations under a variety of referral pathways.

individual counselling

Offering support for non-clinical presentations (e.g.,adjustment, life stressors) and those just needing a little extra support through day to day life. Counselling may also be suitable for those who may not be eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan or have already used all sessions.

combined counselling

A collaborative approach to mental health for those who may want to spread out their psychology sessions over the calendar year, are needing extra support in implementing strategies or may benefit from a multidisciplinary approach.

couples therapy

We offer evidenced-based counselling support for couples using the renowned Gottman Therapy approach supporting couples through various struggles at different stages of your journey and relationship.

psychological assessment

In addition to therapy, our Psychologist also has training in a wide range of cognitive, educational, and diagnostic assessments. Please contact us for more information about assessments offered.

GROUP & online PROGRAMS

We will be offering group programs for a range of mental health needs. For those who may not be requiring specific treatment, do not have time or finances to engage in individual therapy or enjoy the flexibility of self-guided support, we will also be offering online self-development courses from the comfort of your own home.
